INTRODUCTION: Dr. Sophie Hsu is a Board Certified Optometrist, trained to treat various eye conditions and diseases, including infections, inflammation, allergies, and glaucoma. Over her years of practice, Dr. Hsu has developed a special interest in Orthokeratology or “Ortho-K” overnight contact lenses. Her immense passion and knowledge for myopia (near-sightedness) control is often evident in the exam room.
ACADEMICS: Growing up in Arcadia, She went and graduated from Arcadia High School. From there, Dr. Hsu earned her B.S degree in Bio-engineering at UC San Diego. She finished her education by graduating from UC Berkeley School of Optometry (GO BEARS!) for her doctorate of optometry degree.
CLINICAL TRAINING IN OPTOMETRY: During her residency training at the VA hospital of San Diego, Dr. Hsu gained advanced clinical skills in diagnosing and managing different eye diseases including glaucoma. While in residency, Dr. Hsu published an article titled “An Overview of Normal Tension Glaucoma,” which appeared in the California Optometry magazine.

MORE: Dr. Hsu is an active member of the American Optometry Association and the California Optometric Association. She is also an active board member of the San Gabriel Valley Optometric Society. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Korean soap dramas and spending quality time with her sons Nicholas and Ryan!
