Grand Opening Party
Our grand opening party was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who stopped by. Thank you to Jason from Tom Ford and Wendy from NVISION. Here are some highlights from last Saturday. Enjoy!
BVO Eats! – Ojiya
Here at BVO, we are huge fans of Japanese cuisine so we are especially excited to share our experience at Ojiya Chino Hills (4183 Chino Hills Pkwy, Chino Hills, CA) for the first post of BVO Eats!
Sashimi, sushi, bento boxes, broiled fish, and soups — don’t let the long wait deter you because this restaurant has it all. We are still drooling over the Kaisen Zousui (rice porridge with salmon roe and crab), our spotlight dish. The “porridge” has the consistency of soup, but once we tasted the broth, we had no complaints. There are generous portions of crab which adds a mild sweetness to the soup, and it was the perfect compliment to our sushi. This dish can easily be shared by two, but be warned that you will be fighting over the last few drops! To summarize, Ojiya Chino Hills was awesome!
Spotlight Dish: Kaisen Zousui
BVO Tip: Make sure to go early to avoid the crowds. The wait for the sushi bar is generally shorter, but the menu selection will be limited (you can order the Kaisen Zousui though).

Golden Globes Recap
Here are some take-home messages from the 2016 Golden Globes:
1. Glasses are important, just ask Denzel.
Fumbling to read his “thank you” notes, Pauletta Washington (Denzel’s wife), kindly reminded Denzel that he needed his glasses. Alonzo Harris replied, “Glasses ain’t got NOTHING on me!” Just kidding, but Denzel does admit, “Yeah, I do need my glasses.” Classic example of how valuable a pair of prescription glasses can be.
2. Glasses can be a fashion statement.
Unlike most Globe winners, Maura Tierney accepted her Best Supporting Actress award wearing glasses. Mackenzie Wagoner of Vogue said it best, “With the addition of the simple accessory, The Affair actress’ clean skin, nude lipstick, and swirl of peach blush assumed a smartly confident edge—and isn’t that what an award-winning star should look like?”

More Wine Please
Many research studies have pointed out the positive effects of drinking wine. These positive effects include; improved heart health, antioxidants, lower cholesterol levels and even a boost in brain powers of women (sorry fellas). Here is another study reported by the Los Angeles Times about the benefits of wine, specifically for type 2 diabetics.
The Los Angeles Times (10/13, Healy) reports in “Science Now” that according to the 224-participant study published online Oct. 12 in the Annals of Internal Medicine, “red wine drinkers also saw improvements in their apolipoprotein a1 levels,” and, “compared with study participants who drank mineral water nightly and those who had a glass of white wine,” people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) “who drank a glass of red wine nightly also had fewer symptoms of metabolic syndrome (hypertension, excess abdominal fat, high blood sugar and abnormal cholesterol levels) at the end of two years.” Notably, all study participants “maintained a Mediterranean-style diet” throughout the study, and the amount of wine consumed, which was “no more than a single five-ounce serving per day,” was enjoyed with a meal.
Moderation is key. A little bit of wine can be good but too much may lead to serious problems. To gain the benefits of good health, do your part to enjoy your one to two drinks per day at mealtime and follow the advice of the dietary guidelines for food, fitness, and weight management.
